Women's Bank Opens in Tanzania
Today, Tanzania officially launched it's first women's bank based in Dar es Salaam. According to the BBC News, already 110 women came to open bank accounts. While men can also open accounts at this bank, the bank primarily targets women with few application requirements (i.e. only 3,000 shillings in savings to open account; no title deeds). With over 30% female representation in the House and increasing gender equality in education, Tanzania is making big strides towards achieving Millennium Development Goal 3 of gender equality and women's empowerment...
